Campaigning on issues is a great way to make a difference!
Campaigning
Campaigning on issues is a great way to make a difference. You can work directly on issues that you care about in a very focussed way. Organisations that work in this way are quite often called 'single issue' or 'pressure groups'. Put quite simply, the purpose of any campaign is to put pressure on decision makers to affect a change.
A good place to start is to think about what you care about. Once you have done this its good to find someone who shares the same interest as you who may be able to suggest some ways to get involved in the campaigns. If you are a member of an organisation such as Scouting there may be national or local issues that you are concerned about that you would like to campaign for. Campaign toolkit
The campaign toolkit is a great place to start. This will provide you with the tools for an effective campaign regardless of the nature of the issue you feel passionate about. The Scout Association holds regular campaign training for young people, so for further information about dates and locations, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Similarly Oxfam GB has regular campaign training for youth and adult supporters. For more information contact Active Citizens: Virgin Voters to find out about youth opportunities in training campaigns and events.
